7 Fall SKin Care Tips

Changing seasons can be rough on your skin. This time of year, cool air pulls moisture from your skin and before you know it your skin is dry flaky and itchy. With winter fast approaching, this is not the way we want to start out. These 7 tips will help keep your skin smooth, beautiful, and hydrated.

1. Change your Moisturizer~ You've pulled out the sweaters, don't leave your skin in the cold. You need to layer skin with a rich moisturizer to help prevent moisture loss. Remember to reapply often!

2. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate~The time for warm comforting beverages is here and with that an increase in our caffeine and alcohol consumption. Our skin is a great indicator of dehydration, hydrate from the inside out by increasing your water intake.

3. Consider changing your cleanser~ Gel based cleansers are very effective, they remove excess oils from the skin. During the colder months
our skin needs that extra protection. If you have dry, combination, or even oily skin you may need to switch to a foam or cream based cleanser such as Bioelements Flash Foam or Moisture Positive Cleanser.

4. Barrier Repair~ While maintaining a layer of oil on your skin may sound like a bad thing, it protects your skin, and keeps moisture locked in. It may be time to add a serum to your routine. For Very Dry or Dry skin add Moisture X10, a hyaluronic acid based serum. Hyaluronic Acid holds 1,000X its weight in water. Applying under your moisturizer allows it to pull water from the product into the skin to insure penetration. For Combination, Oily, or Sensitive try Bioelements Stress Solution for a non-greasy protective barrier.

5. Exfoliate~ Dry skin can become flakey or build up on the surface, this can interrupt the penetration of products...... Exfoliation keeps that disruptive layer layer at bay. To avoid irritation during the colder months switch from scrub to a chemical exfoliant such as Quick Refiner.

6. Sunscreen~ Remember 2/3 of sun exposure is accidental, ie; driving to work, parking lot at the grocery store etc. Do not skin the sunscreen.

7. Don't Be a Stranger~ Book regular appointments for skin treatments. This allows problems with your skin to be recognized early on. Your Skin changes as the seasons change and with that your products change, know what you need when you need it.
